I don’t think they are the same, because the secret identity focus is different in each case.

A fic about how Clark Kent struggles not to reveal that he’s Superman seems to me to have a different focus than a fic where Superman struggles not to reveal that he’s Clark Kent.

But if you prefer to collapse them, it could just be “cat is an alien.”

"Alien is secretly a cat" also suggests that the alien's cat-ness isn't easily detectable, so you're dealing with something that looks and/or acts different from a cat and then surprise, there was a cat in that Klingon all along! It's a different reveal from discovering your Siamese came here from the Andromeda galaxy.

Hi! I'm "Forced Catgirlification". I intended it as a sort of plus-cat-features take on Forced Feminization. That said, making it gender-neutral is also fine, though I would say the two ideas are also kind of distinct based on forced-fem-plus-cat and forced-cat being slightly different?

I also nominated one of the two "cats as gods" tags and I think the two are functionally the same. I wouldn't have nominated mine if I saw the other in the tagset at the time. :) I think some of of the other dupes may also be mine, like the cats at the workplace one and cats having kittens in someone's home one; I also agree that those are dupes.

Hi! I nominated "Cat protectively guarding/sitting on/comforting a sick or injured person" and "Cat looks after chronically ill human". I think the latter is a subset of the former, since the former doesn't specify the human is chronically ill, just that they're ill. I would be okay with keeping both tags or with deleting the second (more specific) one, as you see fit.

I really like the first tag, please don't delete it! /two cents

I view the first tag as a one-time sort of thing, i.e., my owner was hurt and I will sit here and hiss at anyone who comes near them, and the second as a character who is consistently sick with, idk, cancer or something and needs regular comfort as provided by their cat.
